political freedom

The First Amendment protects the freedom of speech, the freedom of association, the freedom of religion, the freedom of press and the right to petition your government for a redress of grievances. The Second Amendment protects your right to self-defense. The Fourth Amendment protects your right to privacy. The Eighth Amendment protects your right to bail. The Tenth Amendment protects the rights reserved to the people. The Privileges and Immunities Clause protects your traditional liberties against state encroachment. The Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment protect your fundamental rights, including the right to bodily autonomy and child-rearing, from state intrusion. Political Freedom embraces them all, including the right to transparency from the government, open access to the courts, and the right of free and fair elections with integrity.

No elected government can function without free and fair elections. 1776 Law Center supports election laws that reduce the risk of fraud and provide actionable remedy for contested or questioned elections. 1776 Law Center promotes cases that insure the right of self-defense. 1776 Law Center provides access to the Freedom of Information Act, the federal Privacy Act, state Open Records and Sunshine laws that allow ordinary Americans to assure transparency in government. 1776 Law Center supports cases that protect First Amendment access for all Americans. Political Freedom concerns us all.

Political Freedom encompasses each of the core Constitutional rights -- freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom of religion, freedom of press, the right to petition the government for redress of grievances, the right of self-defense, the right to be secure in your home, in your papers, and in those aspects of life private from public invasion or state intrusion, the right to due process of law, the right against excessive fines, the right to travel, and the traditional privileges, immunities, and fundamental liberties of a free people.

1776 Law Center embraces those rights and supports cases needing public advocacy and court representation. A few of the high-profile examples included the Covington Kids subject to a brutal smear campaign for exercising their speech, association, petitioning, and religious freedoms; Kyle Rittenhouse, who the state attempted to imprison for life for defense of himself and his community; and a range of individuals whose rights faced infringement and impairment during the Coronavirus lockdowns, mandates, and business closures.
